About ImageTo100.com

ImageTo100.com is a free public browser tool for one job: compress an image or photo to a file-size cap. The homepage starts at 100KB because that is still the number printed on a lot of job, visa, and exam forms. You can type any other cap from 5KB to 10MB.

The site is operated as an independent utility at imageto100.com. There is no account wall and no paid “unlock.” Public contact is contact@imageto100.com.

Why this exists

Application portals reject a photo that is 101KB when the box says 100KB. Most compressors ask you to guess a quality slider. That is the wrong control for a byte cap.

ImageTo100.com was built so you name the kilobytes first. The page searches for the sharpest JPG that still fits. If a 12-megapixel phone photo cannot hit 20KB without looking ruined, you see a best-effort note instead of a fake “success.”

What “good” means here

For this product, good is not a marketing landing page. It means:

  • You finish the job in this tab, without creating an account
  • The default is the size people actually search for: compress image to 100KB
  • The download is JPG, because that is what most official sites still accept
  • You can batch up to 20 photos to the same target and use Download all
  • The photo is not uploaded to ImageTo100.com for compression

Product choices we made on purpose

Size first, not a mystery slider

The size box starts at 100KB. Dedicated pages lock 20KB exam photos, 50KB SSC/bank ceilings, 200KB job/admission portals, and 1MB email/CMS boxes. Chips still cover 10KB, 20KB, 50KB, 200KB, 500KB, and 1MB. Anything else, you type.

Local encoding

Decoding uses the browser. Encoding runs MozJPEG in a local Web Worker. If WASM cannot start, the page falls back to the browser JPEG encoder. After the page has loaded, the compressor does not need a second upload pipe.

JPG out, even if PNG or WebP went in

Transparent PNGs are flattened onto white. Forms that reject PNG or WebP still get a file they understand.

Batch of 20, not a hidden extra

One passport photo or a folder of product shots. Every file uses the same KB target.

No PDF conversion

People search “compress image to 100kb pdf” or “i love pdf” when they need a small JPG to drop into a PDF form. This site does not make a PDF and is not iLovePDF.

Who uses it

  • Passport, visa, and ID photo uploads that say maximum 100KB
  • Exam and ID boxes that print 20KB
  • SSC, IBPS, and bank notices that print 20KB to 50KB
  • Job, admission, and ID portals that print 200KB
  • Email and chat attachments at 500KB or 1MB

Current limits (stated on purpose)

  • Input about 80MB per file on a phone, 150MB on a computer
  • Up to 20 files in one batch
  • Custom target 5KB–10MB, not 100MB
  • Longest edge is capped around 4096px before the quality search
  • HEIC/HEIF from iPhone is decoded in Safari and converted in other browsers when possible; otherwise export a JPG from Photos first
  • A 10KB cap on a huge landscape will look blocky. That is the form limit, not a hidden bug

What this product is not

ImageTo100.com is not:

  • A cloud photo host or account product
  • TinyPNG, TinyJPG, or any other compressor brand
  • iLovePDF or an image-to-PDF converter
  • A government, embassy, exam board, or employer portal
  • Legal, immigration, or HR advice
  • A guarantee that a portal will accept the photo if background, face-size, or millimetre print rules are also wrong. You can lock width × height in the tool; we still do not check white backgrounds or face ratios.

Always read the form that asked for the file. Check the downloaded size on your device before you open the application site.

How the tool is improved

Changes that keep the core flow honest come first: hitting the KB cap, clearer errors, batch of 20, and copy that matches what the encoder actually does. Feature ideas that turn this into a generic “all image tools” site wait.

Bug reports and confusing wording can be sent from the contact page or the header Feedback button. Do not attach ID photos.
